AC Compressors Wholesale Kenya —
GMCC, Invotech & LG from Dubai
Rotary and scroll compressors for every split AC brand in the Kenyan market — standard and inverter, T1 and T3 rated, exported weekly from Jebel Ali to Mombasa at wholesale pricing.
The compressor is the single most expensive and most failure-prone component in any AC system. For Kenyan HVAC importers and workshops, getting the compressor right — the correct brand, the correct capacity, the correct refrigerant, and critically the correct climate rating for the installation location — is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that generates a callback inside two years.
Al Faisal stocks AC compressors across the full range required by the Kenyan market: GMCC, Invotech, LG and Highly rotary and scroll compressors from 0.75 ton to 5 ton, in R22, R410A and R32 variants, in both standard fixed-speed and inverter configurations. All compressors are exported from our Deira warehouse via weekly LCL consolidation from Jebel Ali to Mombasa — consolidated in the same shipment as your refrigerant gas, copper pipe and spare parts.
💡 Send us the outdoor unit nameplate details. The most reliable way to get the correct replacement compressor is to photograph the outdoor unit nameplate — it shows the compressor model number, refrigerant type, voltage and capacity. WhatsApp us the photo and we identify the correct GMCC, Invotech or LG equivalent from our stock, confirm availability and include it in your consolidated quote within 24 hours.
Compressor Brands Al Faisal Stocks for Kenya
Kenya’s residential AC market is dominated by brands that use a relatively small number of compressor manufacturers. Understanding which compressor brand powers which AC system is the foundation of correct compressor sourcing — and it is where many Kenyan buyers who are new to direct Dubai import make their first mistakes.
GMCC Compressors
GMCC — Guangdong Meizhi Compressor — is the world’s largest rotary compressor manufacturer and the OEM supplier to Midea, TCL and a significant share of the Chinese-origin AC brands sold in Kenya. If the AC system your workshop is repairing is a Midea, a TCL or a number of Haier and Gree variants, the compressor inside it is likely a GMCC. Al Faisal stocks GMCC rotary compressors across the residential capacity range in R22, R410A and R32 — in both fixed-speed and variable-speed inverter variants. GMCC compressors are available in T1 and T3 climate ratings.
Invotech Compressors
Invotech is a specialist inverter compressor manufacturer — their rotary compressors are used in a wide range of inverter split AC systems from Gree, Haier and several other brands with strong presence in the Kenyan market. Invotech compressors are particularly relevant for Kenyan workshops servicing the growing installed base of inverter AC, where the compressor operates at variable speed and the replacement must be matched exactly to the original specification — capacity, refrigerant, voltage and inverter drive compatibility. Al Faisal stocks Invotech in the key capacities for the Kenyan residential market.
LG Compressors
LG manufactures its own rotary and twin rotary compressors for its split AC range — and LG is the largest-selling AC brand in Kenya by installed base. LG’s dual inverter compressors, which use a twin rotary design for lower vibration and higher efficiency at variable speeds, are found in the majority of mid-range and premium LG systems sold in Kenya over the past five years. Al Faisal stocks LG compressors — both standard rotary and dual inverter variants — matched to the LG models with the highest service volume in the Kenyan market. See the LG spare parts page for the full LG range.
Highly Compressors
Highly — Wanbao Compressor — is one of the major Chinese rotary compressor manufacturers, supplying OEM compressors to several AC brands with distribution in Kenya. Highly compressors are commonly found in Samsung and a number of other brands’ lower and mid-range split AC systems. Al Faisal stocks Highly compressors in the key residential capacities for the Kenyan service market.
Rotary vs Scroll vs Inverter — What the Kenyan Market Uses
The vast majority of residential split AC systems sold in Kenya use rotary compressors — both in fixed-speed and inverter configurations. Scroll compressors appear in commercial systems, VRF and larger-capacity units. Understanding the type matters because rotary and scroll compressors are not interchangeable, and an inverter compressor cannot be used as a direct replacement for a fixed-speed unit without also replacing the inverter drive board.
Fixed-Speed Rotary
The standard compressor in Kenya’s large installed base of non-inverter split AC — LG, Samsung, Midea and others. Operates at a single speed, cycling on and off to control room temperature. Straightforward to replace: match the model number, refrigerant type and voltage. The most common compressor replacement job for Kenyan HVAC workshops.
Inverter Rotary
Found in the growing population of inverter split AC systems in Kenya — LG dual inverter, Gree inverter, Midea inverter and Haier inverter units. The compressor operates at variable speed controlled by an inverter drive board. Replacement requires an exact model match — capacity, refrigerant, voltage and drive compatibility. Do not substitute a fixed-speed compressor in an inverter system.
Scroll Compressor
Used in commercial split systems, cassette units, VRF outdoor units and larger-capacity systems found in Kenyan hotels, office buildings and commercial cold rooms. Scroll compressors are physically larger and more expensive than rotary compressors of equivalent capacity. Al Faisal stocks scroll compressors for commercial applications — WhatsApp the outdoor unit nameplate details for availability and pricing.
⚠️ The most common compressor ordering mistake in Kenya — and how to avoid it
Ordering by capacity alone — “I need a 1.5 ton GMCC compressor” — without specifying the refrigerant type, voltage, inverter or fixed-speed, and T1 or T3 climate rating results in a compressor that may not be compatible with the system it needs to go into. A GMCC 1.5 ton R410A fixed-speed T1 compressor and a GMCC 1.5 ton R410A inverter T3 compressor are very different products. Always provide the full outdoor unit nameplate information — or the original compressor model number — when placing your order. Al Faisal will confirm the correct specification before the order is processed.
T1 vs T3 Climate Rating — The Critical Decision for Coastal Installations
No compressor specification decision matters more for Kenya’s coastal market than the climate rating. Kenya’s geography creates two very different operating environments, and using the wrong climate rating is the primary cause of premature compressor failure in Mombasa, Malindi and Kilifi installations.
Nairobi’s altitude — 1,795 metres above sea level — gives it a naturally cool climate. Peak ambient temperatures in Nairobi rarely exceed 27°C, and AC systems operate comfortably within the rated envelope of standard T1 compressors (rated to 43°C ambient).
Mombasa and Kenya’s coastal strip is a different operating environment entirely. Ambient temperatures of 35–38°C are common in peak season, and the actual temperature at an outdoor unit’s condenser coil — after accounting for the condenser’s own heat rejection in a restricted installation space — regularly reaches 45–50°C. A T1 compressor operating at 47°C condenser ambient is running outside its rated specification.
T1 Compressors — For Nairobi & Highlands
IEC climate class T1, rated to 43°C ambient. Correct for Nairobi and Kenya’s highland regions where ambient temperatures stay within this envelope. T1 compressors are the standard specification for the majority of residential split AC sold globally and are appropriate for Nairobi installations. Priced lower than T3 equivalents of the same capacity.
T3 Compressors — For Mombasa & the Coast
IEC climate class T3, rated to 52°C ambient. Required for Mombasa, Malindi, Kilifi, Lamu and any coastal Kenya installation. T3 compressors use heavier motor windings rated for higher operating current at elevated temperatures, a higher-specification refrigerant oil with better high-temperature viscosity, and a higher-rated pressure relief valve. The T3 marking appears on the compressor label. Al Faisal clearly identifies T3 stock and advises on the correct T3 model for any brand and capacity.
⚠️ A T1 compressor installed in Mombasa will fail early — the timeline is predictable
A T1 compressor in a coastal Kenya installation typically runs for 12–24 months before showing signs of thermal stress — elevated discharge temperature, reduced cooling capacity, increasing current draw. Failure follows within months after that. The compressor has not failed due to a manufacturing defect. It has failed because it was operated continuously outside its rated ambient temperature envelope. The replacement cost, labour, customer disruption and reputation damage from that callback is far greater than the modest price premium of specifying T3 from the start. If the installation is on the Kenyan coast, always order T3.

How to Order Compressors from Dubai to Kenya
Ordering compressors through Al Faisal is straightforward for both established Kenyan importers and first-time buyers. The most important step is providing accurate identification information — the compressor model number from the outdoor unit nameplate is ideal. If the original compressor has already been removed, the outdoor unit brand, model number and capacity are enough for us to identify the correct replacement.
What to Send Us
The outdoor unit nameplate photo is best — it shows compressor model, refrigerant, voltage and capacity in one image. Alternatively, the compressor model number stamped on the compressor body itself. For new stock orders covering a range of capacities, send your list by brand, capacity and refrigerant type and we advise on model availability.
Quote Turnaround
We return a quote within 24 hours of receiving your compressor list. The quote includes unit pricing, available quantities, and the combined freight estimate for your full order — compressors plus any gas, copper or parts in the same Kenya consolidation.
Shipping to Kenya
Compressors ship by LCL sea freight Jebel Ali to Mombasa — 10–16 days transit. They consolidate with refrigerant gas (DG Class 2), copper pipe and spare parts in the same container. For a single urgent compressor, air freight to Nairobi is available in 48–72 hours — WhatsApp us for air freight pricing on specific models.
Documents Provided
Every Kenya shipment includes the full document set for KRA clearance at Mombasa — commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and DG documentation for any refrigerant gas in the same consolidation. You receive everything your clearing agent needs in one package.

Frequently Asked Questions — AC Compressors Kenya
How do I identify the correct replacement compressor for a Kenyan AC system?
The most reliable method is to photograph the outdoor unit’s nameplate — the label attached to the outdoor unit casing. This nameplate shows the unit model number, refrigerant type, rated voltage, and often the compressor model number directly. WhatsApp that photo to Al Faisal and we identify the correct replacement from our stock. If the outdoor unit nameplate is illegible or missing, the compressor model number is stamped on the compressor body itself — visible once the outdoor unit casing is opened. As a last resort, the outdoor unit brand and model number is sufficient for us to identify the OEM compressor specification for that unit.
Can I use a GMCC or Invotech compressor to replace an original branded compressor in an LG or Samsung system?
In many cases, yes — with important caveats. GMCC and Invotech manufacture OEM compressors for LG, Samsung, Midea and other brands. A correctly specified GMCC or Invotech compressor — matching capacity, refrigerant type, voltage, mounting configuration and refrigerant oil type — is a technically valid replacement for the original branded compressor in those systems. The key is specification matching, not brand matching. Al Faisal advises on the correct GMCC or Invotech equivalent for any Kenyan AC brand and model — we do not recommend capacity-only substitutions without confirming full specification compatibility.
What is the price difference between T1 and T3 compressors of the same capacity?
T3 compressors typically carry a price premium of 10–20% over T1 equivalents of the same brand, capacity and refrigerant type — reflecting the heavier motor windings, higher-specification oil and additional engineering for high-ambient operation. Against the total cost of a premature failure in a Mombasa installation — compressor replacement, refrigerant recharge, labour, transport and reputational cost — the T3 premium is insignificant. WhatsApp us for current T1 and T3 pricing on specific capacities and brands.
Can I order a single compressor urgently and have it air freighted to Nairobi?
Yes. A single compressor can be air freighted from Dubai International to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in 48–72 hours. Compressors are general cargo — no dangerous goods classification — and ship by air without restriction. Air freight for a single compressor is significantly more expensive per unit than sea freight consolidation, but for an urgent situation — a hotel AC system down in peak season, or a critical commercial installation that cannot wait 3–4 weeks — it is the practical solution. WhatsApp us the compressor model and we confirm availability and air freight cost within a few hours.
Do you supply compressors for cold room and refrigeration systems in Kenya?
Yes. Al Faisal stocks Embraco and Copeland compressors for cold room and commercial refrigeration applications — the compressor types used in walk-in cold rooms, display cabinets, blast freezers and commercial refrigeration condensing units. These run on R404A and R134a and are a distinct product category from the rotary compressors used in split AC systems. Kenya’s cold chain sector — floriculture, food storage, pharmaceutical, hospitality — generates significant demand for refrigeration compressors. See the cold room compressors page for the full refrigeration range.
