NWM ECO Grade

What is the difference between NWM ECO, STD and REG copper pipe?
The difference is wall thickness — ECO is the thinnest, STD is mid-weight, and REG is the thickest. For residential R22 systems in inland Egypt, ECO grade is adequate. For all R410A systems (which operate at significantly higher pressure than R22), STD grade is the minimum recommended specification. For coastal Egyptian cities, cold room refrigeration and commercial VRF/VRV piping, REG grade provides the best durability. Can I use old R22 copper pipe for a new R410A installation in Egypt?
Strongly not recommended, for two reasons. First, R410A operates at 40–70% higher pressure than R22 — pipe that is adequate for R22 pressure may not safely handle R410A working pressures, particularly ECO-grade pipe. Second, old R22 copper pipe contains mineral oil residue from the R22 system — mineral oil is incompatible with the POE oil required for R410A compressors, and residual mineral oil will contaminate the new R410A system. Always use new STD or REG-grade copper pipe for R410A installations and flush any shared sections thoroughly.
