Westron® (UAE Origin) & Maxron® (Made in Korea) — Jebel Ali to Alexandria & Port Said

Every AC system, every refrigerator, every cold room, every vehicle in Egypt runs on refrigerant gas. Without it, compression cooling is impossible. Yet across Egypt’s HVAC and refrigeration market, refrigerant gas is one of the most poorly understood, most commonly counterfeited, and most incorrectly selected products in the entire supply chain.

Al Faisal A/C Spare Parts Trading LLC is a refrigerant gas brand owner — not just a trader. We manufacture and distribute Westron® refrigerants (UAE origin) and hold the distribution rights for Maxron® refrigerants (Made in Korea). We also stock Forane® (Arkema, France), ELIWELL, Fastcool, MAFRON and REFRON brands across our full 42-product refrigerant range.

We have supplied wholesale refrigerant gas to Egyptian importers, spare parts dealers and HVAC contractors since 2005, shipping by sea freight from Jebel Ali Port to Alexandria and Port Said every week. This page covers our complete refrigerant range for Egypt — all gas types, all brands, all cylinder sizes — with detailed guidance on which gas is correct for each Egyptian application.

Westron® & Maxron® — Al Faisal’s Own Refrigerant Brands

This is the single most important difference between Al Faisal and every other Dubai refrigerant trader shipping to Egypt. We do not re-sell other manufacturers’ gas under our own label. We own the brand.

Westron® Refrigerants — UAE Origin

Complete Refrigerant Gas Range — Every Gas Egypt Needs

Egypt’s refrigerant market spans residential AC, commercial refrigeration, automotive cooling and industrial applications. Every segment uses a different gas. Here is the complete guide to which gas applies to which Egyptian application — and the brands Al Faisal supplies for each.

R22 — Egypt’s Largest Replacement Category

The refrigerant of Egypt’s enormous pre-2015 AC installed base. Every split AC, window AC and commercial system installed in Egypt before approximately 2015 runs on R22. Despite global phase-out pressure, R22 demand in Egypt remains very high because of the sheer volume of ageing systems still in service. Demand is expected to remain strong for 8–12 more years as the fleet gradually turns over to R410A and R32.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron® · Forane® (Arkema) · MAFRON · REFRON · ELIWELL

Sizes: 1KG cans · 13.6KG cylinders · 30lb cylinders

Browse R22 →

R410A — Standard for All New Egyptian AC

The refrigerant of every new split AC installation in Egypt since approximately 2015. R410A operates at significantly higher pressures than R22 — systems must be designed and tested for R410A specifically. It cannot be used as a direct substitute in R22 systems. All new Egyptian residential and commercial split AC systems require R410A.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron® · Forane® (Arkema 11.3KG) · ELIWELL · Fastcool

Oil required: POE oil — never use mineral oil with R410A

Browse R410A →

R32 — Growing Fast in Egypt’s Premium Segment

The next-generation refrigerant for residential split ACs. R32 has a Global Warming Potential of 675 — less than one third of R410A’s GWP of 2088. It is mildly flammable (A2L classification) and requires A2L-certified compressors and components. Daikin, Midea, Gree and other manufacturers have been moving their premium inverter lines to R32. Growing rapidly in Egypt as newer models enter the market.

Brands: ELIWELL · Westron® (available on request)

Note: A2L-rated — handle with same care as R290

Browse R32 →

R134a — All Car AC & Domestic Refrigerators

The universal refrigerant for Egypt’s 10.4 million vehicle fleet (every post-1994 car) and for domestic refrigerators and display cases. R134a is not used in split AC systems — it is exclusively for automotive AC, household refrigerators and commercial display cases. The widest range of package sizes — 1KG cans for workshop use through to 13.6KG cylinders for wholesale.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron® · Forane® (Arkema 13.6KG) · ELIWELL (1KG) · Fastcool · FLORON

Sizes: 1KG · 3KG · 13.6KG (30lb)

Browse R134a →

R404A — Cold Room & Supermarket Refrigeration

The standard refrigerant for Egypt’s commercial refrigeration sector — walk-in cold rooms, supermarket display cases, pharmaceutical storage facilities, blast freezers and food processing cold stores. Egypt’s growing food export requirements and pharmaceutical cold chain expansion are driving strong R404A demand. Used with Tecumseh, Copeland and Danfoss commercial compressors.

Brands: Westron® (3KG + full) · Maxron® · Forane® (Arkema) · ELIWELL · Fastcool

Oil required: POE oil

Browse R404A →

R407C — R22 Commercial Retrofit Gas

A direct retrofit option for many older commercial R22 systems — particularly chillers and large commercial systems where a full system replacement is cost-prohibitive. R407C operates at similar pressures to R22, making it compatible with existing copper piping and many system components when used with POE oil. Used extensively in Egypt’s older commercial buildings and hotel HVAC retrofits.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron® · Forane® (Arkema) · ELIWELL

Browse R407C →

R417A — Drop-In R22 Replacement (No Oil Change)

The most practical R22 retrofit option for Egyptian technicians. Unlike R407C, R417A is compatible with existing mineral oil in R22 systems — meaning the system can be retrofitted without a complete oil flush. This significantly reduces the time and cost of upgrading older Egyptian AC systems. Westron® R417A is particularly popular with Egyptian contractors performing residential R22 system upgrades.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron®

Key advantage: Compatible with existing mineral oil — no oil flush required

Browse R417A →

R507A — Low-Temperature Freezer Applications

The refrigerant for low-temperature frozen storage — blast freezers, ice cream display cases, frozen food storage. Egypt’s growing frozen food sector (export of frozen fish, vegetables, meat from the Delta and Mediterranean coastal areas) makes R507A an increasingly important wholesale refrigerant. Also used in supermarket frozen sections across Cairo and Alexandria.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron® · Forane® (Arkema 11KG)

Browse R507A →

R290 — Eco Refrigerant (Propane)

Propane refrigerant with near-zero GWP. Growing in eco-conscious commercial refrigeration and in some split AC models from Haier’s eco range. Highly efficient thermodynamically. Requires certified A3-rated equipment — standard copper fittings and compressors not rated for propane must not be used. Maxron® R290 available for Egyptian importers targeting the eco-commercial market.

Brands: Maxron®

Note: A3 flammable — requires A3-rated equipment only

Browse R290 →

R600a — Domestic Refrigerators (Isobutane)

Isobutane — the refrigerant in virtually all modern European-specification domestic refrigerators sold in Egypt. Egyptian brands like Unionaire and Tornado, as well as imported Samsung, LG and European refrigerators, increasingly use R600a. Workshop technicians need small cans for refrigerator service — Westron® and Maxron® R600a available in sizes suitable for workshop retail.

Brands: Westron® · Maxron®

Note: A3 flammable — use only with R600a-rated refrigerators

The Counterfeit Refrigerant Problem in Egypt — What Every Importer Needs to Know

Egypt’s refrigerant gas market has a serious counterfeit problem that costs Egyptian HVAC contractors and their customers significant money every year. Counterfeit refrigerant gas — typically cheap industrial-grade hydrocarbons or incorrect gas blends repacked into branded cylinders — looks identical to genuine refrigerant until it is installed in a system.

The consequences of counterfeit gas in Egyptian AC systems include: compressor failure within weeks (wrong gas mixture operating at incorrect pressures), system freeze-up (moisture contamination in repackaged cylinders), incorrect cooling performance (diluted gas reducing system capacity), and in extreme cases fire risk if flammable gas is repackaged into systems designed for non-flammable refrigerants.

⚠️ How to verify genuine refrigerant — checklist for Egyptian importers

  1. The cylinder weight matches the labelled net weight — weigh before purchase where possible
  2. The label clearly states the manufacturer, country of origin and batch/lot number
  3. The cylinder valve seal and security tag are intact and unbroken
  4. The supplier can provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) from the manufacturer
  5. For Westron® — contact Al Faisal directly to verify batch numbers against our production records
  6. Be suspicious of any gas priced significantly below market — counterfeit gas is cheap to produce and always undercuts genuine pricing
  7. Do not accept gas from informal traders who cannot provide manufacturer documentation

💡 Al Faisal’s counterfeit protection: As the manufacturer and brand owner of Westron® refrigerants, Al Faisal can verify the authenticity of any Westron® cylinder by batch number. Egyptian importers who receive Westron® gas from Al Faisal directly — by sea freight from Jebel Ali — are receiving gas that has not passed through any intermediary who could adulterate or substitute it. Buy direct from the manufacturer. That is the only complete protection against counterfeit gas.

Nitrogen Gas — Essential for Pressure Testing in Egyptian HVAC

Beyond refrigerant gases, dry nitrogen is an essential tool for every professional HVAC technician in Egypt. It is used for pressure testing refrigerant circuits after installation or repair — before any refrigerant is added. Pressurising a system with nitrogen and checking for leaks over 24 hours is the correct professional procedure and costs almost nothing compared to the loss of refrigerant gas from an undetected leak.

Why Egyptian technicians must use nitrogen for pressure testing:

  • Nitrogen is inert and dry — it will not contaminate the system with moisture (unlike air, which contains water vapour)
  • Refrigerant gas is far too expensive to use for leak testing — any leak during testing wastes refrigerant and money
  • Pressurising with refrigerant before leak-testing risks releasing harmful gas into the atmosphere
  • A 24-hour nitrogen hold test at correct working pressure confirms system integrity before any refrigerant investment
  • Al Faisal supplies nitrogen gas for HVAC applications alongside the full refrigerant range

Shipping Refrigerant Gas from Dubai to Egypt — Important Rules

Refrigerant cylinders are classified as hazardous goods (Class 2 — compressed gases) under international transport regulations. This has direct implications for how Egyptian importers must order and ship refrigerant from Dubai.

🚢 Sea Freight — Jebel Ali (Recommended)

Sea freight is the correct and most cost-effective route for refrigerant gas cylinders. Jebel Ali to Alexandria or Port Said — weekly departures, transit 7–10 days. Hazardous goods declaration (IMDG Code Class 2.2) required. Al Faisal prepares all hazmat shipping documentation as standard.

✈️ Air Freight — Restricted

Most refrigerant cylinders are classified as dangerous goods for air freight (IATA Class 2). Only very small cans (1KG consumer-size) may be permitted under IATA exemptions. Bulk refrigerant cylinders — 3KG, 11KG, 13.6KG — cannot be shipped by air. Plan wholesale gas orders on sea freight schedules.

📄 Documentation Required

Commercial Invoice · Packing List · Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) · Dangerous Goods Declaration · Certificate of Origin (Dubai Chamber) · Bill of Lading. Al Faisal prepares all documents as standard for every refrigerant gas export order.

📦 Consolidation with Other Goods

Refrigerant cylinders can be consolidated with compressors, copper pipe, fan motors and HVAC spare parts in a single LCL sea freight shipment — subject to IMO hazmat compatibility rules. Al Faisal’s freight team coordinates mixed-product packing to ensure full compliance.

⚠️ Critical note for Egyptian importers: Refrigerant gas imported into Egypt is subject to Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) regulations under Egypt’s commitments to the Montreal Protocol. R22 import is increasingly monitored. Ensure your import agent has the correct permits for HCFC (R22) importation. Al Faisal provides all required manufacturer certificates and product documentation for Egyptian customs and EEAA compliance.

✅ Egyptian Refrigerant Importer’s Checklist — Before Every Gas Order

  1. Confirm the gas type required — check the AC system nameplate (R22, R410A, R32, R134a, R404A)
  2. Confirm the cylinder size needed — 1KG, 3KG, 11KG or 13.6KG
  3. Specify the brand — Westron® (UAE), Maxron® (Korea), Forane® (France), or other
  4. For R22 orders — confirm your Egyptian import permits are current (EEAA)
  5. For R32 and R290 — confirm you have the correct A2L/A3-rated equipment to handle flammable refrigerants
  6. Plan sea freight — do not attempt to air freight bulk cylinders
  7. Request the MSDS and Certificate of Analysis with your order
  8. Combine with compressors and copper pipe orders to maximise LCL freight efficiency

Frequently Asked Questions — Refrigerant Gas for Egypt

What is the difference between Westron® and Maxron® refrigerants?

Both are Al Faisal-distributed brands. Westron® is manufactured in the UAE — it is Al Faisal’s own UAE-origin brand covering the full refrigerant range. Maxron® is manufactured in Korea and distributed by Al Faisal — it offers Korean-grade quality at a competitive wholesale price. Both brands cover R22, R134a, R410A, R404A, R407C, R417A, R507A and R600a. Choose Westron® for UAE-origin documentation requirements, Maxron® for Korean manufacturing credentials. Both come with full documentation including MSDS and Certificate of Origin.

Is R22 still available for import to Egypt and for how long?

R22 (HCFC-22) is subject to phase-down under the Montreal Protocol. Egypt, as a developing country under Article 5, has a different phase-down schedule from developed countries. As of 2025, R22 can still be imported into Egypt legally with correct EEAA permits. Al Faisal continues to supply R22 in Westron®, Maxron®, Forane® (Arkema), MAFRON and REFRON brands. For systems that must transition away from R22, Al Faisal supplies R417A (no oil change needed) and R407C as retrofit alternatives.

Can R410A be used to top up an R22 system?

Absolutely not. R410A and R22 are incompatible — they cannot be mixed under any circumstances. R410A operates at approximately twice the system pressure of R22. Introducing R410A into an R22 system will cause immediate over-pressurisation, component failure and potentially dangerous cylinder pressure build-up. This is one of the most dangerous mistakes in Egyptian HVAC workshops. If an R22 system needs a retrofit refrigerant, the correct choices are R417A (compatible with existing mineral oil) or R407C (requires POE oil change). Never cross-fill refrigerant types.

What is the minimum sea freight order for refrigerant gas to Egypt?

There is no fixed minimum unit count, but LCL sea freight becomes cost-effective from approximately 0.5 CBM. A typical Egyptian refrigerant wholesale order includes a mixed pallet of gas cylinders (R22, R410A, R134a, R404A) plus compressors and copper pipe. For pure gas orders, a mixed pallet of 40–80 cylinders in various gas types is typical. Contact us via WhatsApp for a freight cost estimate based on your specific order volume and destination port (Alexandria or Port Said).

Can refrigerant gas cylinders be shipped by air to Egypt?

Bulk refrigerant cylinders (3KG, 11KG, 13.6KG) are classified as dangerous goods under IATA regulations and cannot be shipped by commercial air freight as cargo. Only very small consumer cans (typically under 1KG) may be permitted under specific IATA exemptions. For all wholesale refrigerant orders, sea freight from Jebel Ali to Alexandria or Port Said is the correct route. Transit time is approximately 7–10 days. For urgent small quantities — individual 1KG cans — contact us to discuss options.

What documents does Al Faisal provide for refrigerant gas export to Egypt?

We provide: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for each gas type, Dangerous Goods Declaration (for sea freight), Certificate of Origin (Dubai Chamber of Commerce), and Bill of Lading. For Westron® brand gas, we can also provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) confirming gas purity. For R22 orders, additional documentation supporting EEAA compliance can be prepared on request. All documents issued in English — Arabic translations available on request.

What is the wholesale price of R22 and R410A gas for Egypt?

Wholesale refrigerant gas prices vary by gas type, brand, cylinder size and order volume. We do not publish prices publicly as export pricing is volume-dependent and subject to market fluctuations. Contact us via WhatsApp (+971 55 874 7919) with your required gas types, brands, cylinder sizes and quantities — we will respond with a current wholesale price list within business hours (Mon–Sat 8AM–8PM Dubai time).
