ELIWELL R32 · Westron® R32  — Egypt’s Fastest-Growing AC Refrigerant
Daikin · LG · Midea · Gree Inverter Systems — Sea Freight Jebel Ali to Alexandria & Port Said

R32 is not yet Egypt’s dominant AC refrigerant. R410A holds that position today, and R22 remains the largest category by installed base. But R32 is unquestionably Egypt’s fastest-growing refrigerant category — and the Egyptian dealers who start stocking it now will be significantly ahead of those who wait until demand makes itself obvious.

Every Daikin AC unit sold in Egypt since approximately 2016 runs on R32. A growing portion of LG’s newer inverter models use R32. Midea, Gree and Haier’s premium lines are increasingly R32-specified. As Egypt’s new construction boom continues — the New Administrative Capital, North Coast developments, Alexandria’s expanding residential zones — R32 systems are being installed at scale. Every one of those systems will need R32 for servicing in the years ahead.

Al Faisal A/C Spare Parts Trading LLC supplies ELIWELL R32 for immediate Egypt export — and Westron® R32 on request for dealers who need UAE-origin documentation. All shipped by sea freight from Jebel Ali to Alexandria and Port Said.

Why Egyptian Dealers Should Start Stocking R32 Now

Daikin Has Already Moved to R32

Daikin — the world’s largest AC manufacturer — committed to R32 for its residential product lines globally from 2013. Every Daikin split AC sold in Egypt since approximately 2016 uses R32. Egypt’s hotel and commercial sector, which has long preferred Daikin, has been installing R32 systems for nearly a decade. Those systems are now entering active service cycles.

LG, Midea & Gree Following Fast

LG’s newer Artcool and selected Dual Inverter models use R32. Midea’s premium inverter range uses R32. Gree’s high-efficiency residential lines are transitioning. These brands collectively account for a large share of Egypt’s new AC installations — and they are increasingly specifying R32 for their premium segments.

10–15% Better Energy Efficiency

R32’s higher volumetric cooling capacity means the same system capacity can be achieved with less refrigerant mass and smaller compressors. In practical terms, R32 systems run more efficiently than equivalent R410A systems — a meaningful selling point in Egypt where electricity costs are rising and energy-saving AC is a strong purchase motivator.

GWP of 675 — Egypt’s Future Compliance

R32’s GWP of 675 is less than a third of R410A’s 2,088. As Egypt’s Montreal Protocol commitments ratchet under the Kigali Amendment, R32’s lower GWP positions it as the compliant choice for new equipment. Egyptian dealers who stock R32 are aligned with the direction regulation is heading — not scrambling to catch up when it arrives.

💡 The right stocking strategy for Egyptian dealers in 2025: R22 and R410A remain the high-volume categories and should be stocked heavily. R32 should be added to stock now — modest initial quantities — to cover the growing R32 installed base from Daikin and newer LG/Midea systems. Dealers who establish R32 supply relationships now will be significantly better positioned when R32 demand accelerates across Egypt’s market over the next 3–5 years.

R32 vs R410A — What Egyptian Dealers Need to Understand

Property R32 R410A
Composition Pure single component (CH₂F₂) Blend (50% R32 + 50% R125)
GWP 675 2,088
ODP 0 0
Safety class (ASHRAE) A2L — mildly flammable A1 — non-flammable
Boiling point −51.7°C −51.5°C
Charging method Vapour or liquid (pure gas) Liquid only (blend fractionation risk)
Lubricant POE oil only POE oil only
Energy efficiency vs R410A 10–15% better Baseline
Cylinder colour Magenta / light pink Rose / pink
Egyptian market status Growing fast — premium new installs Current standard — peak demand now

💡 Key practical difference: Unlike R410A (a blend that must be charged as liquid to prevent fractionation), R32 is a pure single-component gas — it can be charged as either vapour or liquid. This simplifies the charging process for Egyptian technicians who know R32. However, the A2L safety classification means ignition source awareness is required during handling — see the safety section below.

Which AC Brands Use R32 in Egypt — Dealer Reference Guide

Daikin — All Residential Lines

Daikin moved its entire residential AC lineup to R32 globally from approximately 2016. Every Daikin split AC sold in Egypt — Smile, Sensira, Perfera, Ururu Sarara — uses R32. The highest-priority R32 stocking brand for Egyptian dealers in the commercial and premium residential segment.

Series: Smile · Sensira · Perfera · Ururu Sarara · FTX · FTKM

LG — Newer Premium Models

LG’s newer Artcool and selected Dual Inverter models use R32. Not all LG units in Egypt use R32 — many still use R410A. Confirm from the outdoor unit nameplate before charging. R32 LG models are increasingly common in Egypt’s 2022–2025 premium residential installations.

Series: Artcool · selected Dual Inverter — check nameplate

Midea — Premium Inverter Range

Midea’s premium inverter lines increasingly specify R32 for their higher-efficiency models sold in Egypt. Midea is one of Egypt’s largest-volume AC brands — as its premium segment grows with R32, this creates significant Egyptian dealer demand.

Series: Mission · Blanc · Xtreme Save — verify per model

Gree — High-Efficiency Lines

Gree has transitioned its higher-efficiency residential inverter models to R32. Gree holds significant market share in Egypt’s mid-to-premium residential sector — its R32-specified models are increasingly present in new Cairo and Alexandria developments.

Series: U-Crown · Versati · Fairy — verify per model

Hitachi — ShuriKEN Series

Hitachi’s newer ShuriKEN premium inverter range uses R32. Hitachi systems appear in Egypt’s high-end residential and commercial segment — the buildings and hotels where premium Japanese brands are specified.

Series: ShuriKEN · selected RAS-S models

Samsung — WindFree & Premium

Samsung’s WindFree range and selected premium models increasingly use R32. Samsung is one of Egypt’s best-selling AC brands — as its premium product share grows, R32 demand from Samsung-servicing Egyptian dealers will increase correspondingly.

Series: WindFree · select Triangle models — verify per unit

⚠️ Always verify the refrigerant type from the outdoor unit nameplate — never assume

Not every model in the above brand ranges uses R32 — many models in the same brand use R410A. The outdoor unit nameplate states the refrigerant type explicitly. Always check the nameplate before opening any cylinder. Charging an R32 system with R410A, or vice versa, will result in incorrect system pressures and compressor damage.

R32 Safety — What Egyptian Technicians Must Know (A2L Classification)

R32 carries an A2L safety classification under ASHRAE standards — “A” means low toxicity, “2L” means mildly flammable with a slow burning velocity. This is meaningfully different from R22 and R410A (both A1 — non-flammable). Egyptian HVAC technicians who have worked exclusively with R22 and R410A need to adjust their approach for R32.

What A2L Means in Practice

R32 has a lower flammability limit of approximately 13.3% by volume in air — it will only ignite in relatively high concentrations. It burns slowly and does not sustain a flame easily. It is far less flammable than propane (R290, A3 class) or isobutane (R600a). In practical terms, a slow leak in a well-ventilated space presents very low ignition risk. However, concentrated accumulation in a confined unventilated space (a sealed room, a ceiling void) can create a flammable atmosphere.

Required Equipment for R32 Work

Systems designed for R32 use A2L-rated compressors and components certified for mildly flammable refrigerant service. R32 should not be charged into systems designed for R22 or R410A — not because of pressure incompatibility, but because those systems’ components are not A2L rated. Use A2L-rated manifold gauges and charging hoses for R32 service work.

⚠️ R32 Safety Rules — Egyptian Technician Checklist

  1. Ensure good ventilation in the work area before opening any R32 cylinder — open doors and windows in indoor spaces
  2. No naked flames, smoking or spark sources in the immediate work area during charging
  3. Do not discharge R32 in a confined unventilated space — refrigerant can accumulate near floor level (heavier than air)
  4. Use A2L-rated manifold gauges and hoses — standard R22/R410A equipment is not certified for A2L service
  5. R32 must only be charged into systems designed and certified for R32 use — check the system nameplate
  6. Do not attempt to retrofit R32 into a system designed for R22 or R410A — not compatible
  7. Store R32 cylinders away from heat sources and direct sunlight — same as any compressed gas
  8. POE oil only in all R32 systems — never mineral oil

Frequently Asked Questions — R32 Refrigerant for Egypt

Can R32 be used as a replacement for R410A in Egyptian systems?

No. R32 is not a drop-in replacement for R410A, despite both gases operating at similar pressures. The critical issue is safety classification — R32 is A2L (mildly flammable), while R410A is A1 (non-flammable). A system designed for R410A uses A1-rated components — compressor windings, motor insulation, electrical components — that are not rated for the higher ignition risk of A2L gas. Installing R32 into an R410A-rated system is unsafe and voids any warranty. R32 must only go into systems designed and A2L-certified for R32.

Is R32 dangerous to handle for Egyptian HVAC technicians?

R32 requires more care than R22 or R410A but is not dangerous when handled with basic precautions. Its A2L classification means it is mildly flammable — it can ignite in high concentrations in confined unventilated spaces. The practical precautions are straightforward: work in ventilated areas, eliminate ignition sources during charging, use A2L-rated manifold gauges and hoses, and do not discharge R32 in sealed indoor spaces. Egyptian technicians who already safely handle LPG cooking cylinders for other applications have the basic awareness needed — the principle of no naked flames near the gas is identical.

Why is R32 described as more energy-efficient than R410A?

R32 has a higher volumetric cooling capacity than R410A — meaning a smaller mass of R32 gas achieves the same refrigeration effect as a larger mass of R410A. This means R32 systems use less refrigerant charge, smaller compressor displacement and less pumping work for the same cooling output. In energy terms, this translates to a measurable efficiency improvement — typically cited at 10–15% in equivalent systems. For Egyptian consumers paying rising electricity bills, this efficiency advantage is a genuine selling point for R32-based systems.

How do I confirm if an Egyptian AC system uses R32 or R410A?

Check the outdoor unit nameplate — the refrigerant type is always stated explicitly on the data plate sticker on the outdoor unit. For Daikin units, all current models use R32. For LG, Samsung, Midea and Gree, the refrigerant type varies by model — the nameplate is the definitive answer. Never guess, and never charge a system without confirming the refrigerant type first. The cylinder colour is a secondary guide — R32 uses magenta/light pink — but always verify against the nameplate label as cylinder colour alone is not sufficient.

Why can R32 be charged as vapour when R410A cannot?

R410A is a blend of two different gases — R32 and R125 — at a 50/50 ratio. When R410A is drawn from a cylinder as vapour, the two components leave at different rates (R32 evaporates faster), changing the composition of what enters the system. This fractionation means R410A must be charged as liquid to maintain the correct 50/50 ratio. R32, by contrast, is a pure single-component gas — only one molecule, so there is nothing to fractionate. It can be charged as vapour or liquid without any composition change. This simplifies charging for Egyptian technicians and eliminates the cylinder-inversion step required for R410A.
